Since the closure of Tatties on Trinity Street, I've been wary of heading to what me and many others refer to as "fake Tatties". I headed in here after feeling particularly sorry one morning and with few other cafes open at 9am on a Sunday.

Ordered the Tatties breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Compared to the original Tatties, it's actually an improvement! Proper sausages instead of the standard cafeteria type, fresh mushrooms and cracking hash browns!

Didn't try their baked potatoes, but I'd be keen to come back again and try it at some point in the future when I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful meal!

It's also a bit of a plus it's out the way as it means it's now far less busy than the other branch used to be. Good to see a Cambridge tradition is being upheld!

Nice cafe to have a cheap and quick lunch. English breakfast is still served during lunchtime, plus a variety of jacket potatoes to choose from. Seats are little bit packed, but generally a comfy environment. The Tatties big breakfast was good, especially the toast, mushroom and eggs, but the bacon was too salty.

Liked baked potatoes menu choices. Ordered plain and was perfect.
    Ciabatta sandwich good too.

On windy rainy and cold day it was nice quick lunch. Restaurant was crowded but enough small tables so hot seated quickly .

Tatties is my go-to spot for an inexpensive and quick lunch, and also to sate a craving for jacket potatoes (which I admit is almost all the time).

What I normally order here is their ratatouille. And my favourite part is just digging into this giant potato that's covered in a flavourful batch of ratatouille, while placing generous pats of butter throughout the flesh of the potato. Yes. At this crucial point of the day, my day is complete. All assignments, tutor sessions, and lectures are rendered temporarily inconsequential.

The incredible range of potato fillings, portion (each order is served with chips and a salad), and cheap pricing understandably makes this a popular spot.
Otherwise, the service here is brief and it takes a while for the servers to warm up to you. And given the lunch hour rush, the tables aren't kept very clean. But overall, you get a delicious bang for your buck (or rather, pound) here and it's always great to be back for more.

Large jacket spud (locally grown!) With a spicy chilli con carne & cheese filling! A visit here was a first for me and the family  recommended!
